A Blackened Silver Band in the Wrap
Dear Delyara, I pulled out my old leather tool wrap tonight to look for a pair of pliers and found a rough, half-cast silver ring band sticking out of one of the pockets. It was completely black from years of exposure to the air, the historical engraving I’d started along the edge clogged with dark tarnish. I remember the night I stopped working on it—I’d had a minor setback with the solder flow, got frustrated, and threw it into the chest. That was years ago. I let my creative muscles atrophy out of pure impatience, and now the metal is just an ugly piece of evidence of my own lack of discipline.
