A DNA test replaced my dead father with a living stranger

Dear Delyara, I took an ancestry test for fun. The results identified a man I had never heard of as my biological father. My mother first denied it, then admitted she had a brief relationship before marrying the man who raised me. My father died six years ago believing I was his biological child. The living man has responded to my message and wants to meet. He sent photographs. I have his nose and the same deep line between the eyebrows. I hate him for looking familiar. My mother says biology should not change anything. It has already changed the medical history I gave doctors, the family tree my daughter made for school, and every moment my father said, “You get that from me.” I know parenthood is more than blood. I also know my body has been carrying another man’s history without my permission. The stranger has two daughters who call me their sister. They send cheerful messages and want to compare childhood photographs. I have not answered. My father is dead and cannot be reassured that no result can remove him. The person who could explain everything is alive and asking to have coffee. I do not know which betrayal belongs to whom.
