A friend let me stay tired without making it awkward

Dear Delyara, I think that is one of the kindest things a person can do. Not make tiredness awkward. I was quieter than usual, slower than usual, and not especially entertaining. My friend didn’t fill the room with concern, didn’t punish the lower energy with distance, didn’t insist on cheerfulness as proof of affection. She just let me be there as I was. That kind of friendship feels incredibly safe. And increasingly rare. I noticed the safety deeply. And I’m grateful for it.
