The StruggleAnxiety
A small delay can change my whole nervous system
Dear Delyara, It’s humbling how little it can take sometimes. A delayed reply. A changed tone. A phrase without warmth. A look I can’t read. One small uncertainty entering the room. And suddenly my whole nervous system reacts as if a much larger problem has appeared. That’s one of the things people misunderstand about anxiety. It isn’t always dramatic from the outside. Sometimes it’s just a tiny detail hitting an old internal alarm so fast that the body is halfway into defense before the mind has made sense of anything. I get tired of how much power little things can have over me.
