The SilenceTrauma
Certain tones still make me disappear inside myself
Dear Delyara, Not leave the room. Disappear inside. A sharpness. A pressure. A certain kind of emotional unpredictability. It doesn’t always take much. And suddenly I can feel myself changing — the body smaller, the voice flatter, the attention narrower, the self less available to the moment. From the outside, it might look like control. Inside, it feels like retreat. I think one of the loneliest things about trauma is how invisible the departure can be while you’re still technically right there.
