The SilenceTrauma
Certain tones still turn my body into a smaller creature
Dear Delyara, I know that sounds strange. It still feels exact. Some tones reduce me instantly. Not in value, but in nervous-system size. I become smaller, more careful, less free, more alert to consequence than possibility. It can happen so quickly that my body feels younger than my actual life for a few minutes. That is one of the loneliest parts of trauma. The speed. And the invisibility of it to anyone not feeling it from inside. I wish it were easier to explain in the moment. Usually it only makes sense later.
