Debt lives in my body now, not just in my bank account
Dear Delyara, It’s in my jaw before I open the app. In my stomach when the post arrives. In the way I mentally edit supermarket choices before I touch the trolley. In the speed with which I deny myself things so no one else in the house has to feel the cut first. Debt has become a bodily condition in my life. A low-level atmospheric pressure that changes how I hear every ordinary need. Even when nothing new has happened, I can feel it already waiting inside me, shaping the emotional weather before breakfast. I am tired of money entering the room before I do. Tired of the fear. Tired of acting calm for the children. Tired of how much of my day is now spent trying to keep financial dread from spilling into places that should still feel simple and safe. That effort is exhausting in ways that numbers alone never show.
