The WeightDebt
Debt makes even ordinary comfort feel morally complicated
Dear Delyara, A small pleasure no longer stays small. A meal out. A slightly easier choice. A useful purchase that isn’t urgent enough to feel safe. Even rest can start feeling expensive when debt sits behind the day like this. What I hate is not only the practical limit. It’s the way debt enters desire and makes softness feel suspicious. That is such a harsh atmosphere to live inside for too long. I want out of that atmosphere as much as I want out of the numbers.
