Drifting in a Featureless Ocean
Dear Delyara, I am standing in the middle of my living room at 3:40 AM, surrounded by stacks of books, old business notes, and open laptops, feeling completely and utterly lost. I am thirty-four years old, and if someone asked me tonight what the purpose of my life is, I would have absolutely no answer for them. The path I spent my twenties building has completely dissolved beneath my feet, leaving me stranded in a featureless ocean with no compass and no stars to guide me. The confusion is paralyzing; it makes every decision feel incredibly heavy because I don’t know which direction leads to solid ground. I look at my peers who are buying homes, raising children, and climbing linear corporate ladders, and I feel like an alien who missed the basic instructions on how to be a human being. I am just drifting in the dark, terrified that I will never find my way back to a meaningful life.
