He brought me tea upstairs and did not ask me to come back down
Dear Delyara, I had gone upstairs early because the day had left me low, and usually there is still that background guilt when I do that — as if I’m leaving too much behind or withdrawing in some unfair way. Instead of calling me back into the evening, he brought the mug up, kissed my head, and let me stay where I was. No negotiation. No making me explain the tiredness. No turning my need for quiet into something that required reassurance. That felt like being trusted in my own limit. And that is a form of love I value more and more.
