He dealt with bedtime on the exact evening I had nothing left to offer it
Dear Delyara, Not tomorrow, not eventually, not after I had become visibly upset enough to justify help. He saw it in my face while I was still moving around the kitchen pretending I was fine and simply said, “I’ve got bedtime tonight.” Then he took the children upstairs and did the whole thing. Teeth, stories, water bottles, the extra cuddle, the missing teddy drama, all of it. I stayed downstairs in a suddenly quiet room and felt my whole body unclench. Not because he had done something heroic. Because he had entered the evening early enough to prevent my exhaustion from becoming meanness. That kind of help protects more than energy. It protects dignity.
