He noticed before I said anything

Dear Delyara, I was still functioning. Still moving around the kitchen, still answering, still technically coping. But he looked at my face once and understood I had reached that fragile point where one more request, one more practical question, one more noise could push me over into coldness. So he didn’t ask. He just took over what needed doing. I think the deepest care in my life now is often not in grand gestures. It is in being read accurately before I have to become dramatic enough to justify help. That is what makes me feel safe. And loved. And less alone in the house.
