He noticed the edge in me before the children paid for it
Dear Delyara, That timing is one of the deepest forms of love I know now. I was still functioning. Still answering. Still moving around the kitchen. But inside I could feel the day had made me brittle. One more innocent question from a child and I might have answered in a tone they did not deserve and I would later have to carry shame for. He saw it. He stepped in quietly, took over what needed taking over, and gave me ten minutes without requiring me to perform collapse first. That mattered more than most people would understand. Because help after I break is useful. Help before I break feels like being truly known.
