He Saw I Was One Question Away from Tearing Up
Dear Delyara, I was still moving. Still answering. Still doing all the things that make a woman look technically fine to people who are only watching from the edges. But inside, I could feel it — that thin place in me where one more practical question, one more interruption, one more small family need might have pushed the whole day out through my eyes. He noticed. He didn’t ask, “What’s wrong?” in a way that would have made me organise the whole feeling while already tired. He just stepped in. Took over dinner. Answered the child. Lowered the volume. Created less demand in the room before I had to fail inside it. That felt like being loved accurately. And accurate love has become very precious to me. Because help after collapse is useful. Help before collapse feels like being known.
