Dear Delyara, That was the whole kindness. No big rescue. No speech. No over-analysis of my mood. He just looked at me and, for once, did not add another practical demand onto a day that had already taken too much from me. He made tea, handled the small thing that needed handling, and let me sit there without needing to be emotionally useful for a while longer. I nearly cried over the absence of one more request. That says something about the week I’ve had. It also says something beautiful about being known by someone who can read the edge before you go over it. That kind of timing feels like love to me now.
