I admitted the headache was not “nothing” and went home

Dear Delyara, Usually I try to outlast pain by making it smaller in language. Just tension. Just tiredness. Just one of those things. But this one had been sitting behind my eyes since morning and by lunchtime I could feel myself becoming less patient, less clear, and more desperate for the day to stop touching me. So I told work I needed to go. No heroic carry-on. No performance of strength. Just honesty. I went home, took the tablets, drew the curtains, and slept for an hour. When I woke up, I felt more human and less angry with the world. It is humiliating how long I have been taught to ignore my own thresholds. I’m glad I ignored them less today.
