My Diary

I almost cried because nobody needed anything for ten minutes

Dear Delyara, That is how much I had been carrying. Ten minutes. No question. No interruption. No task sliding into the doorway. No message. No practical issue. No one’s tone climbing into my nervous system. Just ten minutes where nothing needed me. I didn’t cry, but I felt the body come close. That kind of nearness to tears always surprises me because it reveals what I was not admitting in real time. Not that I am broken. That I am overused. And “overused” may be one of the saddest words I know to apply to a human being.
