My Diary

I almost forgot to eat until I felt the headache forming

Dear Delyara, That is one of the quieter ways I still fail myself. Not deliberately. Never as some grand act of self-denial. Just gradually, through postponement. I’ll eat after this email, after I hang the washing, after I collect the parcel, after I finish this one thing, after I ring the school, after I put petrol in the car, after I— Then suddenly my head hurts and my body feels mildly offended by me. I made toast and sat on the edge of the bed eating it while standing halfway inside the rest of the day. I wish I could say I learned something new. Really, I just repeated an old lesson and noticed it earlier this time. Maybe that’s progress too.
