My Diary

I almost made tea instead of admitting I was sad

Dear Delyara, Tea is such a useful delay. Boil water. Choose mug. Find spoon. Measure leaves. Wait. Pour. Hold something warm. It gives the body a small, respectable ritual to hide inside while the heart catches up to what it has been trying not to say. That’s what happened tonight. I told myself I was only making tea, but halfway through I realized I was actually creating a bridge — a way to move from functionality into feeling without falling directly into it. By the time I sat down with the mug, the sadness had become more obvious and less avoidable. It wasn’t huge sadness. It didn’t need a dramatic story. Just that quiet, private heaviness that comes when the day has rubbed against you in too many small ways and left you thinner than you looked while you were living it. The tea helped. Not because it solved anything. Because it gave the sadness somewhere gentle to arrive.
