My Diary

I almost texted someone and realized what I really wanted was to be already known

Dear Delyara, That is the ache, I think. Not just company. Not just a reply. Already-known-ness. I started typing, then stopped, because I could feel how much context the message would need. Not because the story is dramatic, but because feelings are rarely simple enough to survive summary. And I was too tired to build the whole bridge tonight — from what happened, to why it mattered, to what it touched underneath, to why I’m quieter now than the average “I’m tired” would suggest. So I didn’t send it. And what I realized then was this: I didn’t really want messaging. I wanted the kind of closeness where the bridge already exists, where I can arrive halfway through the feeling and still be met. That kind of being-known feels rare to me now. Its rarity is one of the loneliest parts of this season.
