I am ashamed of how scared I still get over ordinary bills

Dear Delyara, Not emergencies. Not disasters. Just bills. Electricity. School shoes. Car tax. A dental check-up. The sort of costs other people mention casually, as if they belong entirely to the practical side of life. For me they still carry emotional charge. Not always because I cannot pay them, but because they open the old corridor in me where money and fear have known each other too long. Sometimes I feel embarrassed by the scale of my internal reaction. A number appears and suddenly the whole room changes. Future becomes narrower. Softness sounds irresponsible. Rest becomes harder to justify. It is astonishing how quickly finance can move from mathematics into morality inside me. I don’t want that anymore. But wanting it gone does not make the body stop flinching.
