I am carrying something I still cannot say out loud
Dear Delyara, It is not that I enjoy secrecy. It is that some truths feel too dangerous once spoken. I am carrying one of those truths now. It sits under my normal life while I still pack lunches, answer messages, go to work, stand at the sink, say “I’m fine,” ask the children about school, smile when expected. Nobody looking at me would know that part of my mind is constantly circling one unsaid thing and measuring the possible cost of honesty. Would it change everything? Would it only embarrass me? Would it wound someone I love? Would it expose me? Would people understand? Would they reduce me to it forever? I do not know. What I do know is that secrets have weight. They change posture. They change breathing. They enter silence and make it louder. They sit in ordinary rooms with you and make every normal conversation feel one layer away from the actual life you are living. I am tired from carrying something I still do not feel safe enough to release.
