I Am More Frightened Than I Admit That My Life Will Stay Mostly Maintenance
Dear Delyara, Not in theatrical dreams or fantasies of escape. In the quieter dread that if nothing changes, my life will remain this — useful, necessary, responsible, emotionally crowded, financially cautious, full of tasks, full of roles, full of other people’s needs, and still somehow not fully mine in the places that matter most. I think that is why certain small things make me cry now. They are never just the thing itself. They touch the deeper fear underneath: that I am spending my life maintaining a structure instead of inhabiting a calling. I do not need fantasy. I need more aliveness than this. That truth keeps getting louder.
