I am not afraid of trying — I am afraid of becoming visible and not becoming what I hoped
Dear Delyara, Trying privately is easy. Dreaming privately is easy enough. Researching, planning, imagining, even telling a trusted friend what I “might” do one day — all of that can happen inside safe territory. What frightens me is public movement. Submission. Application. Launch. Exposure. The part where my hope steps into the world and can be judged, ignored, or proven unrealistic. And I hate how much power that fear still has over me. Because it has become elegant. It no longer sounds like fear. It sounds like timing, practicality, realism, being sensible at this stage of life, not making reckless choices, protecting my family, waiting until things are clearer. Some of that is true. Not all of it. A lot of it is still me protecting myself from the humiliation of being seen trying and not becoming the woman I want to be. That’s hard to admit. It’s also the door I keep standing outside.
