I Am Skilled at a Life I’m Not Sure I Chose

Dear Delyara, That is one of the strangest truths I’ve had to admit to myself: I am competent inside a life I’m not completely sure I chose on purpose. I know how to function here. I know the systems, the rhythms, the language, the expectations, the routines. From the outside, that looks like success. From the inside, it sometimes feels like adaptation. There is a difference between being good at something and belonging to it. I am still trying to understand which one this is.
