I Am the Emotional Utility System

Dear Delyara, I keep things emotionally running in this family more than anyone really sees. Tone, timing, softness, translation, catching things before they become bigger than they need to be. The children experience a safer home partly because I am constantly buffering emotional weather in ways too small and too regular for anyone to name. And because I do it well, it disappears. It becomes atmosphere. That invisibility is one of the loneliest parts of my life.
