I am tired of curating my own truth

Dear Delyara, Keeping a secret is exhausting in ways I don’t think people understand. It’s not just silence. It’s curation. You edit yourself constantly. You decide which stories are safe, which details must be omitted, which rooms of your life people can enter, which parts of your face have to stay calm, which subjects require a quick detour before anyone notices the change in your voice. Over time, secrecy becomes less about the original truth and more about the effort of maintaining a version of yourself that can function around it. I’m tired of the maintenance.
