My Diary

I answered three emails from my phone while brushing my teeth and then felt annoyed at myself

Dear Delyara, I know better than this. I still did it. The messages weren’t urgent in any true sense. But they were there, and the day had taught me to keep moving, keep answering, keep smoothing the edges, keep not letting anything pile up enough to become tomorrow’s problem. So there I was, toothbrush in mouth, one eye on the mirror and one eye on work. I caught sight of myself and actually thought, this is ridiculous. Not because I’m especially important. Because I’m tired of being reachable in moments that should belong to the body. Teeth, shower, bed, breakfast, red traffic lights, queues. The phone keeps trying to annex every corner of life, and too often I let it. Tonight I put it face down afterward and left it downstairs. A tiny rebellion.
