I Asked for More Time

Dear Delyara, I used to think strength meant sounding like I could handle everything. Pay it, fix it, carry it, absorb it, solve it, keep the room calm, keep the account afloat, keep the shame hidden. This time I chose a different kind of strength. I asked for more time. Not dramatically. Not dishonestly. Just clearly. That felt like a financial victory to me because honesty is much harder than brave-sounding panic. It means I am finally learning that avoiding shame is not the same thing as solving a problem.
