I Asked for the Meeting Instead of Waiting to Be Noticed
Dear Delyara, For too long, I have hoped that good work would be enough to bring the right opportunities toward me. Sometimes it is. Often, it is not. This week I asked. For the conversation. For the opening. For the chance. Not because I suddenly felt fully confident. Because I was tired of letting humility become invisibility in rooms where people far less careful than me seem to ask without shame. I wanted to know what it would feel like to let effort stand beside self-advocacy instead of behind it. The asking made me nervous. It also made me feel more adult in the right way. Not smaller. Clearer. That is what felt like success even before the answer came. The end of one more quiet waiting pattern I had mistaken for virtue.
