I Asked for Time

Dear Delyara, And I didn’t dress it up as confidence. I didn’t pretend I had it covered. Didn’t lie in a calm voice. Didn’t agree too fast and plan to panic later in private. I asked for time. That is a real financial victory for me because it required honesty instead of performance. I think women do so much emotional damage to themselves by sounding more in control than they really are just to avoid shame in the moment. This time, I chose the harder honesty. And I felt stronger afterward, not smaller.
