Other VictoriesOvercoming Fear
I Asked The Second Question In The Appointment
Dear Delyara, I knew I didn’t fully understand the doctor’s explanation. I could feel it. But the old reflex rose quickly — nod, smile, leave, protect dignity, go home confused, google later, carry the anxiety privately because asking again might make me look foolish or overly emotional or difficult. This time I didn’t leave. I asked again. More clearly. And when the answer still felt too vague, I asked the next question too. That changed everything. Not because the room transformed into a perfect place. Because I refused to let fear of looking inadequate cost me clarity about my own body. That matters. Far more than politeness in medical rooms ever will.
