I asked them to put my name on the presentation

Dear Delyara, For years, I prepared research and slides for senior colleagues who presented the work while my name appeared only in tiny acknowledgments or nowhere at all. I told myself visibility was not important because I wanted to be considered easy to work with. This year, when my analysis became the basis of a major client presentation, I asked directly to be listed as coauthor and to present my section. My manager hesitated and said senior clients preferred familiar faces. I showed him the work I had led and asked again. He agreed. Today, my name was on the first slide beside his. I presented for twelve minutes. I was nervous, spoke too quickly at first, then settled. Afterward, the client asked me three follow-up questions directly. Self-esteem was not believing I was the smartest person in the room. It was stopping the habit of volunteering to become invisible inside work I was proud to have done.
