Small JoysQuiet Moments
I ate a peach standing by the sink
Dear Delyara, Cold from the fridge, properly ripe, no one speaking to me, no question attached to the moment, no immediate next step. I just stood there eating it and realised halfway through that I felt more peaceful than I had all day. That’s how small the door to relief can be sometimes. I think when life is this full, the body starts treating tiny uninterrupted pleasures like medicine. Not because they are glamorous. Because they are complete. They happen from beginning to end without being taken over by someone else’s need. It was just a peach. It still felt like mercy.
