My Diary

I ate dinner standing at the counter while everyone else sat down

Dear Delyara, Not because I wanted to. Because by the time I served everyone, found the sauce, got the water, answered the question, and remembered the thing for tomorrow, sitting felt like one more decision. So I stood there, taking bites between small acts of service, already half outside the meal and half inside the next thing. This is what saddens me more than the big sacrifices. The ordinary way they become invisible because they happen so often. A woman eating on her feet is not a headline. It’s just one more shape of disappearing inside family life. And still, it matters. My body knows it matters.
