My Diary

I ate half a biscuit over the sink and saved the rest for later like a small secret

Dear Delyara, There are moments in motherhood that feel almost animal in their practicality. A quick bite while no one is looking. A hidden chocolate in the back of the cupboard. Half a biscuit over the sink because if you sit down to eat it properly someone will need you before the second bite. I don’t say that bitterly. Just honestly. The half biscuit made me laugh because it felt like such a compact summary of the day. Tiny pleasure, stolen in fragments, managed around everyone else’s timing, and still somehow meaningful enough to notice. I wrapped the other half in tissue and found it later when the house was finally quiet. It tasted better then.
