Small JoysQuiet Moments

I Ate One Piece of Toast Alone in the Kitchen and It Felt More Peaceful Than Most Planned Relaxation Has Recently

Dear Delyara, The house was finally quiet. The light was low. No one needed me. No screen was on. No voice was entering the room. It was just toast. Still warm, butter melting, one small plate in one small ordinary kitchen. And I felt peace. Not because I had achieved something beautiful or solved something major. Because my body was not being entered for one whole moment. No demand, no reply, no service, no emotional reading of other people, no practical translation. That simple absence of demand fed me much more deeply than the food did. I think tired women understand this in their bones. That sometimes what looks tiny from the outside is huge from inside a crowded life.
