Small JoysQuiet Moments
I ate the first peach of the week standing by the sink and it tasted like relief
Dear Delyara, It was cold from the fridge, properly ripe for once, and unexpectedly sweet. I was only going to have a bite while waiting for the kettle, but I ended up standing there for the whole thing, juice on my hand, no one talking to me, no message arriving, no child needing me to look at something right that second. I think what made the moment feel so good was its simplicity. Not every pleasure needs a plan or a moral or a productivity angle. Sometimes something tastes good in a quiet kitchen and your whole body recognises that as enough for one minute. I want more of my life built out of small enough joys that I stop overlooking them.
