My Diary
I ate the last biscuit in secret and felt like a teenager
Dear Delyara, Not because anyone would have forbidden me. Because I didn’t want to share one small thing. That made me laugh at myself. Then it made me think. So much of adult life, especially motherhood, is shared. Food, space, time, attention, conversation, energy, money, decisions, even rest. Sometimes the desire to have one thing that is completely yours becomes almost embarrassingly strong. Tonight it was a biscuit in the kitchen with the cupboard door half-closed and the ridiculous thrill of not having to split it into two. That small selfishness felt oddly human.
