My Diary

I ate toast in the car before school pickup

Dear Delyara, Not because I was enjoying some peaceful little private ritual. Because it was the only time I had properly stopped all day. I had done the morning rush, work, one phone call I didn’t want, one supermarket stop, one forgotten errand turned into a larger errand, and by the time I parked outside school, I realised I was hungry in a shaky, irritable way. So I ate toast in the car while watching the gate. It made me feel strangely emotional. Not because of the toast. Because I am tired of meeting my own body in scraps. A bite here. A pause there. A quick sit before the next demand. I want a life where I arrive to myself with more dignity than this.
