I Booked the Appointment About the Lump I Had Been Trying to Pretend Was Probably Nothing

Dear Delyara, I had been reducing it for days. Maybe it’s normal. Maybe it’s nothing. Maybe I’m overreacting. Maybe I should wait another week. Maybe I’m tired and making too much of it. All the familiar language women use when fear is trying to keep concern from becoming action. This time I interrupted that pattern faster. I booked the appointment. Not because I was calm. Because I was tired of uncertainty living in my body as a second problem. I was tired of carrying “probably nothing” in my head while my body was already reacting as if something real needed attention. The appointment itself is not the whole victory. The victory is that I chose care before certainty. That I gave my body seriousness without requiring it to prove itself dramatically first. That is a kind of self-respect I want much more of in my life.
