I booked the appointment I had been avoiding because I was ashamed

Dear Delyara, It wasn’t fear of pain. It was shame. The kind of appointment where you think, I should have sorted this sooner, why did I leave it this long, what will they think of me, how have I become the kind of adult who lets something go this far? That shame kept me postponing for months. Yesterday I booked it. I’m not proud that I waited. I am proud that I stopped waiting. Sometimes progress begins at the exact point where shame has already convinced you not to move. That’s what this felt like.
