I booked the eye test instead of living with headaches and excuses
Dear Delyara, I have been squinting at screens, rubbing the bridge of my nose, blaming poor sleep, stress, hormones, weather, anything except the obvious fact that I needed to get my eyes checked properly. It was one of those quiet things you postpone because it isn’t yet a crisis and because there is always another bill, another errand, another child-related issue, another reason your own body can go one place lower on the list. This week I booked the test. Not because I became a better person overnight. Because I got tired of turning discomfort into background noise. There is a type of self-love that isn’t emotional at all. It is administrative. It is finally doing the thing that would make life less strained in small daily ways and admitting you deserve that reduction in friction. My appointment is next Thursday. I’m weirdly proud of myself already.
