I bought myself the expensive strawberries and didn’t turn it into a moral debate
Dear Delyara, That may sound ridiculous as a victory, but it wasn’t ridiculous to me. I was in the supermarket, standing there with two punnets in my hand. One cheaper, one better. Usually I would have done the whole internal speech — save the money, don’t be silly, you don’t need the nicer ones, other things matter more. This time I just chose the better strawberries. Not recklessly. Not because I’ve become irresponsible. Because I was tired of every small pleasure having to pass through a courtroom before it reached me. I brought them home, washed them, ate some standing in the kitchen, and felt oddly cared for by my own decision. That mattered.
