The AwakeningSelf Love
I bought the better shoes without arguing with myself for half an hour
Dear Delyara, I’m used to making my own comfort negotiable. If it’s me who will be sore, or uncomfortable, or irritated, some practical voice immediately arrives to tell me I can manage, I’ve had worse, it’s not necessary, don’t be silly, buy the cheaper one. I’m tired of that voice. This time I didn’t stay in the argument. I bought the shoes that actually fit, actually support me, and actually felt kind to walk in. And the whole way home I kept thinking how strange it is that sometimes self-love is not a dramatic feeling at all. It is just the absence of self-neglect in a shop. I want more of my life built from that kind of decision.
