I bought the better socks because my feet are part of my life too

Dear Delyara, I was in the shop looking at the cheap multipack I usually buy and the slightly better ones I actually wanted. Old me would have taken the cheap ones automatically and called it sensible. This time I stopped and thought, I stand all day, I drive, I work, I run around after everyone, and my feet are always the part of me expected to tolerate discomfort quietly. So I bought the better ones. It wasn’t only about socks. It was about not automatically giving myself the lower-grade version of everything just because I can cope with it. I want to stop calling that maturity.
