I Built a Small Amount of Safety

Dear Delyara, I saved a little money and didn’t immediately lose it to the next emergency. That sounds small. It isn’t. When you’ve lived in financial stress long enough, even a modest amount of stability feels emotionally significant. It means room. It means fewer panic calculations. It means a slightly softer body. It means a little less fear every time something goes wrong. I’m proud of that softness more than I’m proud of the number itself.
