I called back the unknown number before imagination had all afternoon with it

Dear Delyara, Unknown numbers still trigger an immediate little internal alarm — what is it, what did I forget, what now, what went wrong. Usually I let the call sit there long enough for fear to build furniture in the room before I deal with it. This time I rang back. It was ordinary. Of course it was. But the victory was not in the content. It was in how quickly I interrupted the old pattern of letting uncertainty become a whole emotional event before reality got a turn.
