I Called Before It Became an Emergency
Dear Delyara, That is the part I’m proud of. Not the symptom. Not the fear. The timing. Usually I wait until the thing has either gone away or become dramatic enough to justify my attention. I minimize, monitor, talk myself down, carry the stress privately, and then act surprised when I’m exhausted by the whole process. This time I called sooner. I made the appointment while there was still room for prevention, not just reaction. That felt like a very adult kind of care. Not glamorous. Not brave in a movie way. Just me, in the kitchen, making a call before avoidance could dress itself up as common sense. I’m learning that taking myself seriously is a skill. This week, I used it.
