I called the bank before fear had another week to turn the problem into a monster
Dear Delyara, That call had been haunting me for days. Not because I couldn’t make it. Because I knew the emotional cost of facing it would be high. The shame. The voice. The need to sound grown-up while admitting numbers that had already been keeping me awake. I kept waiting for a better day to do it. A calmer day. A less tired day. I understand now that I was really waiting for fear to become small enough not to feel. It didn’t. So I called anyway. And of course, reality was smaller than the private beast I had built around it. Still uncomfortable, still exposing, still adult in all the least glamorous ways — but solvable. Human-sized. Clear enough to act on. That is what I’m proud of: not courage without fear, but action before fear had another week of private territory inside me.
